Adam Raman from Lakar Design Builder offers a few ideas for a terrace house in Setia Alam.
Edwin’s terrace house is in Regia 3, Setia Alam. When he approached Recommend.my for advice from interior designers, his requirements were, “I want a minimalist design, exposed brick walls, and an open concept for the living room.”
Since the house was not yet occupied, it was a blank slate for our interior designers.
Here is the living room:
Adam offers a few suggestions to meet Edwin’s requirements:
1. Cover up the staircase railing an turn it into a actual brick wall
The staircase can be covered up entirely with exposed brick. This makes it a great backdrop for the TV, projection system, or even artwork.
2. Put the exposed brick wall behind the staircase railing, replace one side of railing with metal cables.
In this design by Juan Matiz, metal cables are used to provide stability for the cantilevered stair and serve as rails at the same time.
3. Combine wood-coloured cabinets with a white floor for a clean look
4. Or, contrast lighter-coloured furniture with darker wood flooring
