Great news if you’re planning to buy a new aircon in 2021! The government recently announced an e-rebate of RM200 when you buy a 4 or 5 star energy-efficient aircon.
This rebate is due to Sustainability Achieved via Energy Efficiency (SAVE) 2.0 programme, announced in Budget 2021.
According to Minister of Energy and National Resources Datuk Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, every household is eligible for the RM200 rebate, as long as their electricity bill comes from Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB), Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB) or NUR Power.
The best part is, they are available to purchase e-commerce platforms such as Lazada and Shopee.
But, how to choose the right model for your needs? Below are the best energy-saving aircons in Malaysia that are eligible for RM200 off under the SAVE 2.0 programme.
Naturally, all the aircons listed below have 4 or 5 star rating for energy saving. They are also all inverter units. Read: Why inverter aircons give more energy savings. But apart from that, each comes with its own set of features, such as fast cooling, air purifier, air deodoriser, self-cleaning, remote control using mobile app, and much more. Acson was Malaysia’s first aircon brand, and the company’s history started 35 years ago in 1986. Acson aircon models eligible for RM200 off include the Avory, AVO, SP and S series.

Daikin

How to get the RM200 rebate voucher
The rebate vouchers will need to be applied through the respective e-commerce platform:
You will need to apply via the websites above. The ecommerce platform will then forward your details to SEDA. Once approved, the voucher will automatically appear in your user account.
Note that, as of the time of writing, both Shopee and Lazada have temporarily disabled new applications for the SAVE 2.0 voucher. It could be due to an overwhelming number of applicants being processed by SEDA.
Do the aircon units come with free aircon installation?
This will depend on the Shopee or Lazada seller themselves. Some will provide free installation based on location. However, most do not.
