This one-room apartment in Paris boasts a lovely monochrome design. The moment you step in, you are greeted by soft white walls with beautiful raised patterns, and pine flooring. But as you keep walking around, you will notice something’s not quite right.
When you step into the bedroom on the left, your eye is immediately drawn to the chandelier and ceiling-high French windows.
Perfect for waking up to on a lazy, sunny Sunday morning.
The living room is also gorgeous, again featuring ceiling-height windows and sliding panels that open up to the kitchen.
The kitchen is done up in dark laminate to match the dining table.
The bathroom’s centrepiece is the bathtub, with beautiful dark marble and wood panelling.
And now for the surprise.
This apartment is not real.
This apartment is a demo walkthrough that you can install and play on your computer. It was built entirely in the computer by Benoit Dereau, a gamer and level designer.
I tried it, and the images simply don’t do it justice. When you play it, you can hear the sounds of the wind and the birds chirping outside, and the light streaming in the window casts some lovely shadows. It’s as close as you can get to really being there, surrounded by lovely French interior design.
You can view the video walkthrough below, or download it and install it on your computer so you can walk around the apartment on your own.
In just a few years, many interior design projects will include a virtual walkthrough like this one. You will be able to put on a 3D headset, and tour your proposed home design in real-time. Many property launches already have such “fly-throughs”, but they are always pre-recorded, and don’t give you a truly immersive experience. This will change soon. We can’t wait!
Tell us your design requirements, and we will recommend interior designers to send your their estimates.
