5 things that international movers handle for you

Moving in and out of a country can be really stressful as there are plenty of things to settle beforehand, which includes transporting your stuff to the new place.

So if you are still contemplating the best way to move your stuff across borders, hiring an international mover would help you in terms of:

1. Packing and collection

The moving consultant will assign a dedicated team that will be in-charged of all the packing process. With their vast experience in handling delicate and fragile items, rest assured your stuff are in good hands. Boxes, tapes, labels and bubble wraps will all be provided by the mover company.

After all your stuff has been packed and sorted out, the consultant will schedule for a collection team (with a lorry and large metal container) to come and collect all items to be shipped. There will be a checklist and comprehensive inventory of all labelled boxes and items that go inside the container and items that go to the storage warehouse.

2. Holding and storage

Before the scheduled shipping, your belongings will be kept in a secure holding area. This is an important step if you have a lot of expensive, valuable and fragile items in the shipment.

As for the items that you are leaving behind, an international mover might be able to rent a warehouse to keep them. The rental charge is available of monthly and yearly basis, depending on the length of rent that you require.

3. Shipping and delivery

If you can afford the extra time, delivery by ship will be the cheapest solution. It allows you to bring items of all sizes and weight,s as long as it can fit into the metal container that you’ve booked. It is possible to ship a car (or two) as well!

All international movers have their counterparts in the respective destination countries where they offer door-to-door service. Once your shipment has arrived, they will arrange the ground transportation and logistics to your new home. Some international movers even offer unpacking service as well.

4. Insurance protection

Your belongings will go through many forms of transport during the process. For example, the metal container carrying your items will be transferred to the ship with a crane. It will then be placed on and in between other containers. During the journey, there items may shift, and get damaged by other heavier items.

A professional international mover service would be able to include insurance coverage should there be any accident or damage to your valuables.

5. Clearance and documentation

Customs clearance can be problematic when you are not prepared for it. A highly experience international moving consultant would be able to advise you on the documentations needed for this purpose. Supply all the documents and information needed by the moving company.

Also, make yourself reachable throughout the moving process should they need more information for the customs clearance as regulations might change even over a short period of time.
